FutureReady East Africa: Reskilling a youthful workforce for the Future
A pilot pioneered by the Kampala Hub under the Global Shapers Community's thematic area of 'Reskill for the Future.'
The Challenge: Youth Workforce Readiness before 2030.
Sub-Saharan Africa faces a critical gap in youth workforce readiness, highlighted by the World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs Report 2025. Current efforts, particularly in Eastern Africa are fragmented, failing to engage local innovation or foster cross-border collaboration. This is urgent, given Africa's growing youth population.
Solution: A 4-months long pilot led by the Kampala Hub. Activities in this phase will guide development of:
  1. A youth-centered soft skills curriculum.
  1. A project road-map for reskilling East Africa's workforce informed by WEF's frameworks.
  1. A 45-minute documentary film as a storytelling medium for lessons learned from the pilot and next steps.
